Formed by Birmingham’s own Charlie Jones (BBC Singer/Songwriter of the Year – Finalist 2008) and some of Nottingham and Leicester’s most creative and captivating musicians, Charlie & The Martyrs are amazing crowds far and wide with their unique style of Melodic Indie/Pop ‘N’ Roll.

Having combined their abilities and love of music, Charlie & The Martyrs continue to play sold out venues to anticipating fans and media alike, starring at Leicester’s biggest unsigned event the ‘Summer Sundae Fringe Festival’ and being handpicked to perform at the prestigious ‘Big Chill’ Festival last year. From this, set opener ‘Kenny James Tale’ was chosen to feature on the ‘Busking for SolarAid’ album released by the Big Chill Label.
This year the band has been selected to play various UK festivals including ‘Glade’, ‘Lubstock’, ‘Strawberry Fields’ and the ‘Worcester Music Festival’. However for them the highlight of the festival season will be when they take to the main stage at this year’s venerated ‘Summer Sundae’ for which they were specially chosen.
The band are frequently featured in regional press such as the Leicester Mercury, 69 magazine and FD2D magazine, and their debonair appearance has attracted the sponsorship of ‘Vandini’ Shoes, who’ve captured their live essence in a video advertisement. The optimistic five piece currently receive regular airplay on regional radio across the country, as well as having performed live tracks on Dean Jackson’s esteemed show ‘The Beat’ on more than one occasion, aired on all of the BBC’s Midlands stations. In May the band were also warmly received when they performed a live set on BBC WM, which they are due to return to when promoting their latest release.
Being tipped among the hottest of hot properties, ‘Charlie & The Martyrs’ are set to take off as they hit the rest of the UK with a live set that will blow you away, whatever you’re into, so if you’ve not heard them yet, get involved!
